Hey Joe (An Homage to Joe Cocker)

Last greetings to a great singer

Hey Joe
Your last standing is over
No fantastic voice anymore
The sound of the world cracked for a while
You left the stage of life
Standing ovations for you driven by a deep sad mood
Last blues notes hang in naked winter trees
Unchained your soul now
Go your way upstairs
On a stairway to heaven
Break on through to the other side
Knock on heaven’s door
In your hand the backstage passport
For the biggest festival ever
Not comparable with famous Woodstock
I’m sure an Angel Band welcomes you
A heaven full of Rhythm and Blues waits for you
Hey Joe
Sing your unique sound again and again
Perform your unique show
With a little help of your friends in heaven
Be unforgotten in my heart
Your songs will guide me through life’s seasons
