Jesus' resurrection: A perfect solution for all evil

On the Sunday before Easter, Pastor Anthony once again preached to his congregation about the power of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

“The same power that raised Jesus from the grave, the power of the Holy Spirit, raises up believers to proclaim the truth of the Resurrection!,” Pastor Anthony declared.

“Amen, Pastor!,” declared Deacon Arnie. “That’s mighty good preaching.”

Pastor Anthony continued, “The Holy Spirit gives us the boldness and strength that we need to be witnesses for Jesus as we live our lives and proclaim His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, death, burial, Resurrection, ascension to heaven and imminent return.”

As the service ended, Pastor Anthony asked those who wanted to have a closer walk with the Lord to come to the altar for a special prayer of dedication. Many people responded to the invitation.

Pastor Anthony asked Deacon Ambrose to conclude the service with prayer. The deacon prayed that each member of the congregation would experience a greater boldness to share the good news of Jesus Christ.

As the deacon concluded his prayer, another member of the congregation, Brother Andy, approached him. “God bless you, Brother Andy,” said Deacon Ambrose.

“God bless you, too,” said Brother Andy. “Say, do you have a minute for us to talk?”

“Sure,” said Deacon Ambrose. “What would you like to talk about?”

“I’d like to talk about the day that Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey,” said Brother Andy.

“You’re talking about the day people threw articles of clothing in front of the donkey, right?,” asked Deacon Ambrose.

“That’s right,” said Brother Andy. “I wonder what we would have done if we had been there that day.”

“I hope we would have been among those who threw the clothes on the road to honor Jesus,” said Deacon Ambrose.

“I hope so, too,” said Brother Andy. “But I think that many of us in the modern era would probably react much differently.”

“What do you mean?,” asked Deacon Ambrose.

“I think some of us probably would try to make extra money by selling the clothing over the Internet by the next day if the Internet had been invented then,” said Brother Andy.

“Some of us might not have participated because we would have been afraid of getting the clothing dirty.

“A few of us may very well have offered our clothing, but we might have done so grudgingly.”

“All of those comments are pure speculation,” said Deacon Ambrose. “According to the Bible, Jesus was resurrected after He was buried. The only thing that matters now is that He is alive and is coming again. The Resurrection wasn’t a temporary solution to the evils of the world. Through the Resurrection, He conquered death, hell and the grave for all of eternity!”
