Justine Knolle

Confucia

I am a very confused little girl.
Sometimes made of bakelite.
Others soft, as Mother of Pearl.
Bilingual, bicultural, bisensuous,
Funny, I’m not ambidextrous!
My mother always thought
I would be a boy.
What does that say for me
Mr. Sigmund Freud?!?
May I lie here on your couch
With my mind on your plate?
Shall I tell you who I love?
Shall I tell you who I hate?
I need a break, some rest, a pause.
I want to be that eagle
That dips, and dives, and soars.
