Alleycat

Let me come to you like an alleycat
choose my own path and pace
sneak through your open window
in a moonlit night on silent paws
to cover your body in lovebites
and set fire to your soul

I’ll roll in the ashes of our love
and purr you to sleep in the aftermath,
then take a drowsy catnip catnap
in your warm embrace
before I vanish into the darkness again

And if you leave this window open
and offer me a warm place at your heart
my restless roaming will bring me back to you
again and again.. Until my heart finds a home here.
