Ursula Brieke-Brinkmann

Your love is meaningless

Your  love – it does not mean a thing

to all the others in this world,

and yet it changes everything for me.

Your smile is meant for me

and makes the world a warmer place,

in spite of a cold wind

that may be blowing  in my face.

Terms of endearment, words you say

can brighten up so dark a day,

and when you – gently - touch my skin

I just feel dizzy and my heartbeat quickens.

That is not too dramatic

and does not make the world go round.

It’s something hardly noticed

so quiet … and yet so profound.

The changes that this brings about

can make and change my day,

so that my soul would like to shout

but softly begs you ‘stay’.
