Rekindling old flames
We met again
after twenty years.
He was the love of my life.
Could we begin
all over again
where we left off?
Could we rekindle
the passion,
the intimacy
we once enjoyed?
Almost desperately
we tried
to re-invent
ourselves,
relive the past.
Painful realisation
brought us to our senses:
The past was dead!
We both changed
beyond belief,
each living in our own
little Universe.
