Havanna

Sunrise is diving
the sea into
red-golden light.
Roaring waves
roll to the stony wall
of the road at
Havanna’s shore.
The noisy town
is still dreaming
in its morbide
colonial flair.
It is slowly
awakening
from its sleep
to the busy life
of in its streets.
People are
on their way
to work, to school,
and university
to the market
or the harbour.
Cafès attract
with the smell
of breakfast.
Cars, buses
and bikes
creep through
narrow streets.
Colourful clothing
is waving in the
morning wind,
and the colours
of this scene
will later be kept
in the minds
of tourists
who travel there.

Havanna

Die aufgehende Sonne
taucht das Meer
in rotgoldene
s Licht.
Donnernd brechen
sich Wogen an
der Steinmauer
der Uferstraße
von Havanna.
Noch träumt die
betriebsame Stadt
in ihrem morbiden
kolonialen Flair.
Erst langsam
erwacht sie
aus ihrem Schlaf.
Menschen machen
sich auf zur Arbeit,
zur Schule, zur Uni,
zum Markt, zum Hafen.
Cafés locken mit
Frühstücksduft.
Autos, Busse
und Fahrräder
zwängen sich
durch enge Straßen.
Bunte Gewänder
flattern im Morgenwind
und beleben
das Straßenbild,
wie es später
auch Reisende
in Erinnerung
behalten.
